This one could be rough.
My little flnger on my right hand…the pinky I’ve come to rely on to delete bad ideas…is not cooperating. It has a mind of its own. If I had a whole mind, I have half a mind to let it run with this and make my half minded point without me.
et’s tru// ///////////////. The quick brown fox jume=p over the zayx.’
you get the idea/
We are two weeks post the second DBS surgery, a week before the second suture removal, and a week and a half before activation of the gizmo…and I have taken a half an hour to type what used to take me two minutes to type.
This is not at all where I expected to be.
There are a number of competing explanations. The damn Parkinson’s didn’t get the memo and has decided to accelerate during this “time off.” My body has taken the impact of two invasive brain surgeries to heart…the last under prolonged sedation…and is slow to rebound. You are 70 years old Rob and …well… you’re 70 years old.
Whatever the cause, my balance is shot, my fingers are not finding the keys, the drugs don’t seem to work as they once did, and focusing is a big challenge.
And sleep?
If only…
If I stand to do a jig saw puzzle, my legs won’t act up. If I think they are quiet, I lie down. That lasts two minutes and I’m up again.
Repeat. Rinse, Restart.
In the good news department, my buddy Mike Cale came in second in each event he entered in the World Championships in Korea. Some damn Pole got in the way of world domination.
My wonderful wife Cathy has found the perfect chair to answer my woes. The Fjord Rome model rocks, swivels, and will enable me to sleep in a variety of upright positions.

And my kids Kate and Sam keep me laughing:

And I have you. You folks foolish enough to follow along.
Thanks for checking in. Let’s hope this gizmo works.
